Jamaican reggae star Koffee has reached another international milestone with her breakout single Toast. The hit song has officially been certified gold in France after recording more than 15 million streams in the country.
France’s Syndicat national de l’édition phonographique (SNEP) issued the certification on Monday.
The achievement comes nearly eight years after the release of the song that introduced Koffee to audiences around the world.
France is the latest major market where Toast has secured a music certification. The track previously achieved platinum status in the United Kingdom. It surpassed the equivalent of 600,000 units through sales and streams.
Toast has also been certified gold in Canada.
Released in 2018, the track became a defining moment in the career of Koffee, whose real name is Mikayla Simpson.
The Spanish Town native was still a teenager when the song helped transform her into one of Jamaica’s rising international reggae stars. IzyBeats produced the track, with Walshy Fire also receiving a production credit.
The song’s message of gratitude helped it connect with listeners far beyond Jamaica.
The popularity of Toast also translated into chart success in several international markets.
In the United Kingdom, the single reached No. 70 on the Official Singles Chart.
It also appeared on multiple Billboard charts in the United States.
The track peaked at No. 24 on Rap Airplay and No. 37 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. It also reached No. 47 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
Online, the song has continued to attract listeners years after its initial release.
Its official music video, released in November 2018, has accumulated more than 289 million views on YouTube.
Toast was later included on Koffee’s five-track debut EP, Rapture, released in March 2019. The project went on to win Best Reggae Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards in 2020.
Koffee was 19 at the time of her win. The achievement made her the first woman to win the Best Reggae Album category. She also became its youngest-ever winner.
Rapture also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart.
The success of the project helped cement Koffee’s place among a new generation of Jamaican artists reaching global audiences.
The latest certification demonstrates the longevity of a song that remains closely associated with Koffee’s rise. Years after its release, Toast continues to reach new milestones across international markets.
Its gold status in France adds another achievement to the track’s growing list of global certifications while highlighting the continued international reach of Jamaican reggae.
