Vybz Kartel’s “Fever” Achieves Gold Certification in the UK

Eight years after first capturing the attention of dancehall fans, Vybz Kartel’s hit single “Fever” has reached another major milestone, earning Gold certification in the United Kingdom.

The certification, awarded by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) on July 3, recognizes more than 400,000 combined sales and streaming-equivalent units in the UK. The achievement marks Kartel’s first Gold-certified single in the British market and underscores the enduring popularity of one of dancehall’s biggest modern anthems.

Released in 2016 as the lead single from King of the Dancehall, “Fever” was produced by TJ Records while the Jamaican deejay was serving a prison sentence. Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding its release, the track quickly became a fixture at parties, clubs and dancehall events, developing into one of the artist’s most recognizable songs.

The latest recognition follows the song’s Silver certification in the UK in 2023, when it surpassed 200,000 units. In just three years, its performance doubled, allowing the single to secure Gold status.

“Fever” has also enjoyed strong commercial success beyond the UK. In 2025, the song received Gold certification in the United States from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), further cementing its position as one of dancehall’s most successful releases of the past decade.

Streaming figures continue to demonstrate the song’s lasting appeal. As of July 2026, “Fever” has accumulated approximately 147 million streams on Spotify, making it Kartel’s most-streamed dancehall track on the platform. Its official audio and music video have also generated more than 100 million combined views on YouTube, highlighting its continued popularity with audiences around the world.

Known for blending romance with his signature dancehall style, “Fever” introduced a more melodic side of the self-proclaimed “Worl’ Boss” and helped expand his audience beyond traditional dancehall listeners.

The latest certification arrives during a new chapter in Kartel’s career. Since regaining his freedom in 2024, he has resumed international touring, released new music and continued strengthening his presence across global music markets, with “Fever” remaining one of the defining songs of his extensive catalogue.
