Jamaican dancehall star Mavado has reached a new career milestone, earning his first British music certification after his 2010 single When U Feel Lonely achieved silver status in the United Kingdom.
The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) officially certified the track silver on Friday, October 9, 2026, after it reached the equivalent of 200,000 units through sales and streaming.
The achievement marks Mavado’s first BPI certification, adding another international recognition to his career more than 15 years after the song’s original release.
Produced by Jamaican production team Daseca Productions, When U Feel Lonely was originally released in 2010 and later appeared on Mavado’s EP Invisible, which arrived in November 2012.
The five-track project also featured Invisible, Believe U, Aktion Pak and Gyal Wine.
Before its inclusion on the EP, When U Feel Lonely gained additional exposure through the Greensleeves Records compilation The Biggest Ragga Dancehall Anthems of 2011.
The track’s silver certification reflects its accumulated sales and streaming performance in the United Kingdom, demonstrating the continued audience for Mavado’s earlier recordings.
Although Mavado has yet to secure an entry on the official UK Singles Chart, his music has previously achieved success on Billboard’s American charts.
His 2007 single Weh Dem a Do, produced by Delly Ranx and featured on the Redbull & Guinness rhythm, reached No. 27 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
The track also climbed to No. 20 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
In 2008, Mavado returned to the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with So Special, which peaked at No. 52.
Both songs also appeared on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, extending his presence beyond Jamaica’s dancehall market.
The silver certification of When U Feel Lonely adds to the international achievements of Jamaican dancehall music, highlighting the genre’s continued presence in overseas markets.
The milestone is particularly notable because the certification comes more than a decade after the song’s release.
For Mavado, whose catalogue includes several recordings that have gained international attention, the recognition represents another achievement in his career and underscores the lasting appeal of Jamaican dancehall music among listeners abroad.
