CANTO Annual Conference

As the Caribbean accelerates its digital transformation, the region’s premier telecommunications and technology forum is set to gather in the Dominican Republic this August, offering a unique convergence of business, policy, and the leisure appeal of Punta Cana.

The 41st CANTO Annual Conference & Trade Exhibition will take place from August 9–12, 2026, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana. Under the theme “Elevate the Caribbean” , the conference serves as the region’s premier telecommunications and digital technology gathering, a powerhouse platform where industry leaders, innovators, and change-makers unite to shape the region’s digital future.

This year’s event marks a significant milestone for the Caribbean’s ICT sector, offering not just strategic dialogue and high-level partnerships, but also a compelling opportunity for delegates to experience one of the region’s premier resort destinations.

The choice of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana as the venue is a strategic one, setting the stage for productive discussions within a world-class resort environment.

Delegates will have access to discounted accommodation at the resort, ensuring a seamless and cost-effective experience that blends business with the renowned hospitality of the Dominican Republic.

To further facilitate participation, Copa Airlines is offering special airfare savings for attendees, making it easier for regional and international delegates to connect and engage. This reflects CANTO’s commitment to fostering regional unity and accessibility.

CANTO is the Caribbean’s premier ICT trade association, representing telecommunications operators, regulators, and technology companies across more than 30 countries. The annual conference is more than an industry meeting; it is a critical forum for advancing regional dialogue, policy development, and capacity building in support of a connected, competitive, and digitally inclusive Caribbean.

This year’s theme, “Elevate the Caribbean,” signals a forward-looking agenda focused on accelerating the region’s digital competitiveness and building a pipeline of bankable digital projects. It aligns with broader regional efforts to position the Caribbean as a modern, connected investment platform across sectors including tourism, logistics, and the blue economy.

According to CANTO’s website, a number of ministers from several Caribbean nations will be in attendance, among them:

  • Jonathan Reid, Minister of Innovation and Technology, Government of Barbados
  • Diallo Rabain, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation, Government of Bermuda
  • Rolston Anglin, Minister for Finance and Economic Development and Minister for Education and Training, Government of Cayman Islands
