Sandals Negril General Manager Champions Education Initiatives

Education has long been at the heart of Sandals Negril’s commitment to building stronger Caribbean communities. While the resort has consistently invested in initiatives that support learning and youth development, this graduation season, Melissa Clarke, the general manager of Sandals Negril, transformed that commitment into a personal mission, celebrating academic excellence and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

Having previously served as training and development manager from 2009 to 2013 at Sandals White House, now Sandals South Coast, Clarke has dedicated much of her career to developing people. Today, that same passion extends beyond the resort’s gates and into the communities Sandals Negril proudly supports.

As part of the resort’s graduation outreach programme, Clarke and her team visited a number of schools within the western region, where they gifted book vouchers to the top-performing students and school packages in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.

Speaking to the graduates, Clarke shared a message she hopes will remain with them throughout their lives:

“Always strive to do your best in everything you do, no matter the task. You never know where your effort might take you and you never know who is watching.”

For Clarke, supporting education is about more than rewarding academic success; it is about encouraging young people to believe in the limitless possibilities that education can unlock.

“Watching students graduate and take the next step in their educational journey gives me an incredible sense of fulfilment; it is an honour to celebrate these young achievers because every milestone they reach represents the promise of a brighter future for our communities and our country,” said Clarke.
