Shaggy Headlines I Love Jamaica this December as he leads a major hurricane-relief concert in New York. The benefit event at UBS Arena on December 12, 2025, will rally global support for Jamaica’s recovery after Hurricane Melissa.
The concert supports the Government of Jamaica’s official Hurricane Relief Fund. Money raised will help families, students, and communities that continue to struggle in the wake of the storm. Hurricane Melissa severely damaged several western parishes, including St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, St. James, and Hanover.
The effort comes through a partnership between Jamaica Strong NY Inc., Jammins Entertainment, The Irie Jam Foundation, RoadBlock Radio, and other diaspora organizations. The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport (MCGES) has endorsed the initiative, and UBS Arena has joined as a major sponsor.
The Hon. Olivia “Babsy” Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, emphasized the value of music during moments of loss. She noted that Jamaica’s culture offers strength and unity, especially in times of crisis.
As a result, the concert gives Jamaicans and friends of the island, a way to contribute to the rebuilding journey from abroad. Organizers also promise clear reporting so donors can trust that funds directly reach the communities most affected.
For Bobby Clarke, President & CEO of Irie Jam Radio, the event aligns with the foundation’s long commitment to cultural advocacy.
He explained that the Jamaican diaspora has always supported the homeland during difficult times. Because of that, the concert gives supporters a chance to come together once again.
In addition to Shaggy, the lineup will feature top Jamaican and international artists. Community voices and surprise guests will also join the program, ensuring a powerful mix of music, storytelling, and national pride.
Kacy Rankine, CEO of RoadblockRadio.com / WCBS 101.1 HD3, shared that Jamaica continues to show remarkable resilience. Although the hurricane destroyed homes and infrastructure, it did not weaken the nation’s spirit.
As a result, Rankine believes the concert will offer comfort and encouragement to families facing a long rebuild.
“When Shaggy steps on stage, he’ll represent every Jamaican who continues to fight for a brighter future,” Rankine added.
The “I Love Jamaica” Concert Series celebrates the island’s cultural energy and brings supporters together in difficult moments. Organizers expect thousands of people to attend in person or join online.
Ultimately, the series aims to turn unity into action one performance at a time.
