Effective July 1, 2025, Grenada’s iconic Spice Island Beach Resort has announced the appointment of Sheldon Keens-Douglas as its new Resort Manager. Keens-Douglas, a seasoned hospitality executive, previously held the role of Commercial Director since January 2024, where he led efforts to elevate the resort’s brand presence, increase occupancy rates, and expand international market penetration.

Keens-Douglas’s relationship with Spice Island Beach Resort dates back to the early 2000s, when he served as Assistant Manager from 2001 to 2006. That foundational experience gave him firsthand insight into the resort’s operations and its deep commitment to service excellence.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Sheldon back to operations,” said Janelle Hopkin, President and Managing Director of Spice Island Beach Resort. “His ability to seamlessly connect commercial strategy with guest experience and his unwavering passion for Caribbean hospitality makes him the perfect fit to lead the resort into its next phase.”

He also founded SPEAK Inc., a consultancy that focuses on hospitality training, branding, and public relations across the region.
As Resort Manager, Keens-Douglas will work closely with the executive team to implement the strategic vision set by the resort’s leadership, oversee daily operations, and ensure the continued delivery of world-class guest experiences.
“It’s an incredible honor to step into this role at a property that has meant so much to me throughout my career,” said Keens-Douglas. “Spice Island Beach Resort is a beacon of ‘Grenadian Excellence’—a reflection of the spirit, warmth, and talent that make our island so special.
