Jamaica’s rising star Lila Iké is stepping fully into her artistry with the release of her long-awaited debut album, Treasure Self Love, available worldwide on August 22. Known for her velvety vocals and fearless storytelling, Iké has carved a space as one of reggae’s most distinctive new voices—and this project firmly cements her place.
The 11-track album is a sonic journey weaving reggae, soulful R&B, and dancehall. Moreover, across its tracks, Iké explores the many layers of love; romantic, spiritual, and the often-overlooked love of self. As a result, the album feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
Recorded between Habitat Studio and Kingston’s iconic Tuff Gong Studios, the project thrives on its blend of live Jamaican musicianship and global production influences. In addition, it benefits from being executive produced by Iké herself alongside mentor and Grammy-nominated reggae artist Protoje, offering a contemporary yet roots-conscious soundscape.
Lila Iké taps into an impressive roster of collaborators who each bring their own distinct energy. For instance, R&B powerhouse H.E.R., Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$, UK soul singer Maverick Sabre, Protoje, and dancehall star Masicka all contribute to the album’s rich texture.
Notably, highlights include the globally minded “All Over The World” with Protoje and “Romantic,” where Masicka joins Iké in reimagining Patra’s 1994 classic Romantic Call. Meanwhile, spirituality shines through on “Scatter,” which nods to legends Peter Tosh and Garnett Silk. Later, tracks like “Too Late to Lie” and “Serious” reveal Iké’s vulnerability and emotional honesty.
Closing with “Love in a Lovely Way,” Iké ties the album’s themes together with a message of renewal and inner strength, ultimately echoing the wisdom of reggae icons who paved the way for her.
At the heart of the album is Iké’s own journey toward self-acceptance. As she shares in an interlude, “Today I have found that treasure within myself … the purest love I know is through my own work of art. Treasure self love.” This ethos extends beyond her music; through her Blessings & Light Foundation, she advocates for mental health awareness and supports young creatives across Jamaica and the diaspora.
The release comes amid a whirlwind of performances that reflect her growing global influence. Fresh off stages in São Paulo, Montego Bay’s Reggae Sumfest, and Belgium’s Reggae Geel, Iké will celebrate her album launch with a London showcase before heading to New York for the Caribbean Music Awards, where she’s nominated in three categories. Fans can also catch her alongside Kabaka Pyramid at a free SummerStage concert this September.
Raised in Christiana, Manchester, Lila Iké first captivated audiences with her 2020 EP The ExPerience. That project earned MOBO Award nominations and international acclaim for her genre-bending style and soul-baring lyrics. With Treasure Self Love, she takes her artistry further—bridging roots reggae traditions with modern influences while staying true to her message of authenticity and empowerment.
For those seeking music that uplifts and inspires, Treasure Self Love is not just an album; it’s a declaration. Lila Iké’s voice is one of resilience, passion, and evolution and she’s just getting started.
