Grenada Book Festival Returns in October with Exciting New Events

The second annual Grenada Book Festival, presented in partnership with Grenada Office of Creative Affairs, returns in October with an exciting line up of events for writers and book lovers of all ages.

This year’s Grenada Book Festival starts on Friday 3rd October with The Business of Publishing, a free professional development workshop for writers at all levels of their careers. Then, on Saturday 4th October, the popular Book Fair, featuring an exhibition of over 30 local authors and artisans and interactive children’s corner, returns to the Grenada Trade Centre Annex from 1:00pm – 7:00pm. Entry is free.

The final event in the 2025 Grenada Book Festival is the Grenada Office of Creative Affairs Grenada Writers’ Prize, a national short story competition for writers currently residing in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. When the competition opens on October 1st, writers will be able to enter their original, previously unpublished short stories in one of two categories:Grenada Writers’ Prize (21 years and older) and Grenada Prize for Young Writers (15 – 20 years old).

“I am excited about this writing competition, which is a new addition to the Grenada Book Festival,” says Amy Jones, Lead Director for the Grenada Writers’ Prize.  “I want to encourage everyone, both young and older writers, to take advantage of this opportunity that will reap real rewards, including attractive cash prizes, exposure and mentorship.”

The competition closes on October 15th.

“Grenada is a nation of natural storytellers, and it’s only fitting to give those voices their time to shine. The short story competition is a place for writers to challenge their craft, share their perspectives and contribute to our literary heritage,” explains Kara Benjamin, Marketing and PR Officer at Grenada Office of Creative Affairs. “GOCA is thrilled to support a festival that nurtures talent and honours the stories that shape our national and cultural identity.”

The 2025 Grenada Book Festival is supported by Presenting Partner Grenada Office of Creative Affairs and Festival Sponsors Grenada Trade Centre, Huggins, Grenada Co- operative Bank, Sandals Grenada, True Blue Bay Resort and EME Marketing & PR.
