Canadian airlines Bahamas flights are set to expand in a major way this winter. Air Canada, WestJet, and Porter Airlines are all adding direct flights to Nassau, boosting connectivity and making travel easier for Canadians escaping the cold.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, this development is a significant step forward for the airlift sector. With the new schedules, weekly non-stop flights from Canada will nearly double. Therefore, the change will not only provide more convenience for travelers but also strengthen the country’s visitor economy.
The Nassau and Paradise Island Promotion Board explained that service from Canada will rise from 19 to 39 weekly flights. Consequently, this increase will represent about 10 percent of total inbound air seats to the destination.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, the Hon. I. Chester Cooper, welcomed the expansion as a “big deal” for The Bahamas. He emphasized that the added flights will improve arrivals and reinforce ties with one of the nation’s most important international markets.
“This growth in Canadian airlift ensures that more visitors can seamlessly connect with our islands, enjoy our culture, and contribute to our economy,” Cooper said.
The upcoming changes include both new routes and additional frequencies:
Air Canada
WestJet
Porter Airlines
Lynden Pindling International Airport, located only 10 miles from downtown Nassau, continues to grow as a Caribbean hub. Importantly, it is the only airport outside the U.S. to offer international TSA PreCheck, which makes connections smoother for travelers. In addition, the airport already provides non-stop service from the U.S., Europe, and South America. With expanded Canadian flights, The Bahamas is now even more accessible.
As Canadians plan their winter escapes, these new routes offer more choice, easier travel, and greater incentive to choose The Bahamas as their tropical getaway.
