Barbados tops Caribbean passport rankings for the 11th consecutive year, securing its place as the region’s most globally mobile nation. The result comes from the Henley Passport Index 2026, which measures travel freedom worldwide.

Once again, Barbados leads the Caribbean. The ranking reflects strong international relationships and long-standing diplomatic ties.

In the 2026 index, Barbados ranks 19th globally. The Barbadian passport allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 162 destinations. No other Caribbean nation ranks higher.

This sustained performance highlights Barbados’ reputation as a stable and trusted global partner. For citizens, it translates into easier travel and broader access to international markets.

The Bahamas follows closely behind at 20th globally, with access to 150 destinations. St Vincent and the Grenadines ranks 22nd, offering entry to 156 destinations. St Kitts and Nevis places 23rd, with access to 155 destinations.

Antigua and Barbuda rounds out the Caribbean’s top five. The country ranks 24th globally and provides access to 154 destinations.

Caribbean nations across mid-tier rankings

Grenada ranks 27th globally, allowing access to 147 destinations. Trinidad and Tobago follows at 28th, with 146 destinations. St Lucia and Dominica share 29th place, each offering access to 145 destinations.

Several countries sit within the middle of the global index. Belize ranks 49th, with access to 99 destinations. Guyana follows at 54th, allowing entry to 88 destinations. Jamaica places 56th globally, with 86 destinations available visa-free or on arrival.

Lower-ranked Caribbean passports

Further down the list, Suriname ranks 61st, with access to 78 destinations. The Dominican Republic places 67th, allowing access to 72 destinations. Cuba ranks 77th, with 58 destinations. Haiti sits at 85th globally, offering access to 50 destinations.

Global context for passport strength

Globally, Singapore holds the top position as the world’s most powerful passport in 2026. Afghanistan ranks last.

The Henley Passport Index tracks passport strength using data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA). It covers 199 passports and 227 destinations and updates monthly. For more than 20 years, it has served as the leading benchmark for global mobility.
