Barbados and Dominica Sign Landmark Tourism Deal

The Barbados and Dominica tourism partnership is ushering in a new era of Caribbean collaboration. On October 1, 2025, both islands signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at boosting regional travel through multi-destination packages, sustainable tourism initiatives, and improved connectivity.

Known as the “Gem of the Caribbean” and the “Nature Isle”, Barbados and Dominica want to give travelers richer, more seamless experiences by encouraging exploration across both destinations.

The signing took place at the Hilton Barbados Resort during the State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC). The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) and the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) formalized the agreement, setting out a shared framework for tourism product development, joint marketing, and sustainable growth.

A working group will meet twice yearly to review progress and refine strategies.

Barbados and Dominica Tourism Leaders Emphasize Unity

Andrea Franklin, CEO of BTMI, stressed the importance of regional cooperation.

“If Barbados serves as the hub, we should channel that connectivity to our sister islands, like Dominica, ensuring all destinations benefit,” she said.

Marva Williams, CEO of DDA, added that the Barbados and Dominica tourism partnership will create broader opportunities for communities beyond travel and hospitality.

Key Focus Areas of the Barbados and Dominica Tourism Partnership

The MOU outlines four strategic priorities:

  • Multi-destination vacation packages blending culture, wellness, and eco-tourism.
  • Stronger air and cruise links to make island-hopping easier.
  • Joint marketing efforts including media exchanges and shared campaigns.
  • Sustainable tourism collaboration through shared expertise and product enhancement.

Positioning the Caribbean as a Multi-Stop Destination

Under this partnership, Barbados will continue to leverage its strength as a cruise and cultural hub, while Dominica will showcase its eco-adventure assets like the UNESCO-listed Morne Trois Pitons National Park and the Boiling Lake.

By combining their strengths, both islands aim to make the Caribbean a multi-stop tourism destination, encouraging travelers to explore more within a single trip.
